In total eight FEBS Youth Travel Funds (YTF) Grants are available to support participation of early-career scientists in this summer school. Each grant will lead to a reduction of 500
Euros from the registration fee. The selection of applicants to receive FEBS YTF grants will be carried out by the course organizers based on the provided abstracts and motivation texts,
and approved by the FEBS Treasury Office according to the FEBS YTF eligibility criteria (shown below).
Eligibility criteria for FEBS YTF Grants:
- The applicant should be not be older than 35, should be registered as a PhD student at an institute of higher
learning in a country where there is a FEBS Constituent Society (i.e. within the FEBS area) or should be a postdoctoral scientist within five years of having completed a PhD thesis, working in a
country where there is a FEBS Constituent Society.
- The applicant must be a member of a FEBS Constituent Society and must provide evidence of membership, by
sending an email with membership proof to the course organizers ([email protected]). Please state ‘FEBS membership proof’ in the subject heading.
- The applicant must not have received a grant from FEBS to attend a FEBS AC in the current year or previous year,
nor a bursary to attend the FEBS Congress in the current year, nor a grant to attend the FEBS Young Scientists' Forum (FEBS YSF) in the current year.
- The applicant cannot be a resident of the country where the course will be held
- Young scientists from the organizers’ laboratories are not eligible for FEBS YTF Grants.
- The total number of meeting awards the applicant has previously received from FEBS (FEBS Congress bursary, FEBS YSF
grant, and FEBS YTF award for previous FEBS AC) may also be taken into consideration in the selection.
Application and notification of outcome:
- Please indicate within the Application Form of the Brixen Summer School that you would like to apply for a FEBS YTF Grant. Please check
carefully, if you are eligable for this travel grant, provide all required information as requested in the application form and send a proof of your society membership to
[email protected]. Please state ‘FEBS membership proof’ in the subject heading.
- Applicants selected by the course organizers will be notified and receive a FEBS Treasury YTF form, to be returned to the FEBS Treasury for
approval approximately 8 weeks before the event's start date.
There will be one IUBMB Transcontinental-YTF (Trans-YTF) Grant available for a PhD student or a postdoctoral scientist from outside the FEBS area, provided by the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB).
Details on the eligibility criteria of the IUBMB Trans-YTF Grant, which is up to $2,000 to help with registration and travel costs, are shown below.
Eligibility criteria for IUBMB Trans-YTF Grant:
- The IUBMB Trans-YTF Grant awardee should work and have current residence in a country that has
an IUBMB-adhering body but does not have a FEBS Constituent Society
(i.e., outside the FEBS area).
- The applicant should not be older than 35, should be registered as a PhD student at an institute of higher learning
in a country where there is an IUBMB-adhering body but not a FEBS Constituent Society, or should be a
postdoctoral scientist within five years of having completed a PhD thesis, working in a country where there is an IUBMB-adhering body but not a FEBS Constituent Society.
- The applicant must be a member of an IUBMB-adhering body and must provide evidence of membership as well as a
Curriculum Vitae (CV) by sending an email with membership proof to the course organizers ([email protected]). Please state ‘IUBMB Trans-YTF Grant application’ in the
subject heading.
- The applicant should not have received a grant from FEBS to attend a FEBS AC in the current year or previous year,
nor a bursary to attend the FEBS Congress in the current year, nor a grant to attend the FEBS Young Scientists’ Forum in the current year.
- Awards will only be made to support travel from the applicant’s current country of residence to the country hosting
the FEBS AC. The applicant must have resided in their country of residence for at least six months before applying for the grant.
- Young scientists from the organizers’ laboratories are not eligible for IUBMB Trans-YTF Grants.

One European Proteomics Association (EUPA) travel grant will be available to support participation of one early-career scientists in this summer school. It will cover the
900 Euro registration fee (including costs of event meals, and shared accommodation in a twin room). The selection of the applicant to receive the EUPA award will be carried out by the
course organizers, and approved by EUPA.
Eligibility criteria for EUPA travel grant:
- The applicant should be registered as a PhD student at an institute of higher learning in an European country or
should be a postdoctoral scientist in an European country.
- Young scientists from the organizers’ laboratories are not eligible for an EUPA travel grant.
